Carlos Vazquez's paintings are a compilation of a visual
language that comprises color, symbols and story telling.
The fantastic characters that populate these drawings
and paintings are inspired by the reality that surrounds
the artist, but become in his work live interpreters
of their creator's imagination and his memories.
Born in Mexico City, Carlos studied Physics at the
Universidad Autónoma de México [UAM].
In 1989 he joined the San Carlos Fine Arts Academy and
later traveled to New York City where he studied at
the School of Visual Arts. In 1992 he also joined the
Art Students League of New York, where he studied painting
and drawing with William Scharf (1927-) until the year
2000. His works are in private collections in Venezuela,
Mexico, the U.S., Germany, and France, where he has
also exhibited his work. Carlos has also illustrated
children's books.
